WANA (May 04) – London police have announced the arrest of seven Iranian nationals suspected of involvement in terrorism-related offenses during two separate operations.

 

According to a statement by the Metropolitan Police, the arrests took place in London, Swindon, and Greater Manchester, and are linked to “a suspected plot to target a specific location.”

 

In total, eight men—seven of whom are Iranian nationals—were arrested on suspicion of preparing for a terrorist act. They are between the ages of 29 and 46 and remain in custody. The nationality of one of the suspects is still under investigation, according to counterterrorism police.

 

Dominic Murphy, Head of the Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command, stated: “This is a fast-moving investigation, and we’re working closely with those at the impacted location to keep them updated.”

 

He added: “This investigation remains in its early stages. We are exploring all avenues to understand any potential motivation and assess whether there is any further risk to the public.”

 

Officers are currently conducting searches at multiple addresses across Greater Manchester, London, and Swindon in connection with the investigation.

 

The arrests and searches are being supported by officers from Greater Manchester Police and counterterrorism units from across the UK.
